Unscented Aroma Beads 1 lb.

HOW TO MAKE AROMA BEADS
Make your own Scented Aroma Beads by simply following the instructions that we have listed in detail below!

Materials Needed:
1.) Container with a reseal-able lid, such as a glass jar or HDPE plastic container. Be sure that it is large enough for the amount of beads you are processing, and they will need to be able to move around and "breath". (Do NOT use a plastic bag or Zip Lock style. The Fragrance Oil will eat through this and create a mess)
2.) Your Unscented Aroma Beads (1 lb. for instruction purposes or make adjustments accordingly for the amount you would like to process)
3.) 1.5 to 2 ounces of Fragrance Oil to be used for mixing with per lb. of beads.
4.) Liquid Candle Dye (optional as you do not have to color)

Instructions To Process/Make 1 pound of Scented Aroma Beads
Step 1: Start off by pouring your 1.5 to 2 ounces (2-4 full table spoons) of fragrance oil into your mixing container.
Step 2: Add a few drops of candle dye and mix/swish around in with fragrance oil (about 3 to 8 drops, more or less depending on intensity of color desired).
Step 3: Add 1 lb. of unscented aroma beads to fragrance oil/candle dye mixture. Shake vigorously until evenly coated.
Step 4: Continue to shake every hour or so, until all oil is completely absorbed.
This may take anywhere from 24 hours to 1 week depending on the fragrance.
Oils containing Citrus or Essential Oils will cure faster, so be sure to shake them often during the processing period.
Once complete, the beads will no longer stick to the sides of the container. If the beads are not fully drying after ample time, then there may be the need to add more unscented beads, but be sure to do this in small increments.
Our unscented aroma beads are top quality and are NOT off-spec beads. They will absorb color & fragrance evenly throughout the entire batch, unlike other unscented aroma beads you will find on the market.

HOW TO MAKE AROMA BEAD ORNAMENTS

Make your aroma beads as you normally would. If unsure how to process Scented Aroma Beads, please follow our listed instructions.
The Scented Aroma Beads should cure and "set up" for at least 3-5 days after they are dry from scenting process. The fragrance/scent throw WILL NOT last for near as long, if cooked immediately after drying and not fully cured.
Preheat oven to 300-350 degrees, approximately, and this temperature can vary significantly, and outside of these temperatures, depending on many factors. You will have to TEST your oven to see what works best for you.
(IMPORTANT: BE SURE OVEN IS COMPLETELY HEATED BEFORE STARTING TO BAKE) Do NOT put the filled cookie cutters in before the oven is totally heated.
Cut a piece of parchment paper to fit your cooking sheet/pan.
**This is optional but will help protect your cooking sheet/pan.
Place cookie cutter molds (metal molds) on the cooking sheet.
Unless you are looking for a particular pattern, use the thin of the cutter down against the cookie sheet. They are easier to pop out after cooling. This is optional. They will pop out either way. You have to use the thick side up if you are using a pattern.
Place a roofing nail or flat head nail where you want a hole to be.
Pour Scented Aroma Beads around the nail into cookie molds, making them approximately 3/4 - 7/8 full, or to desired thickness. Try to be sure the beads are packed in tightly and evenly. You can tap them with your finger or lightly tap the beads in the mold with a flat object. They stay together better and will not peak at the top edges as much.
Note: Use a wooden stick to evenly push the beads around.
* The longer you cook them, the more they peak. Do not overcook!

Baking times will vary depending on many factors and may range from 5-10 minutes, depending on the temperature setting, the oven itself, the size and thickness of your ornament, and the number you are baking at one time. Be very careful not to overcook them! Again, it is very important to watch them until you are comfortable with your settings and process.
If they are overcooked, you will know because they will have large peaks on them around the edges of the mold!
**The smaller the ornament and less thick you pour the beads into the mold, the shorter the cooking time.
(NOTE: Test the cooking time. Do not start off with making an entire batch, if you have never done them before!)
It is suggested to cook the same or very similar scent types together. Also, it is suggested to cook the same or very similar size molds together so that they will cook evenly.
Once completed, pull cooking sheet/pan out of the oven and let cool.
Wait approximately 2-4 minutes or until they have cooled down some, and then move the ornaments just a bit to loosen them so air can get to the bottom for cooling.
In about 8-10 minutes, or when they are cool enough to handle but are still a little warm, pop the melted beads out of the molds. This will require you working the scented bead air freshener around the edges until it is completely removed from the mold. After they are loosened and removed, let them cool completely.
DO NOT leave them in the molds for a very long time, as the molds will stay hot/warm and may continue to melt the beads longer than desired or needed. This may also create problems getting them out, so be conscientious of your time and temps.
If you have used flat nails in your cookie molds, simply push the sharp side against something hard. (You can use the cookie sheet) They will come right out! If you have not used a nail, then after cooled completely you can use a small portable drill to drill a hole in the ornament. Please remember to use a block beneath it and HOLD the ornament while drilling. Drill from both sides to make the hole the correct size. Bore the hole with the drill so it is round and large enough for your hanging string, ribbon, twine, etc. Use the drill in a circular motion as if you are scraping out a bowl, but do not pull it out, just circle wider. You can use a 3/16 drill bit. Tie your string through the hole for hanging and then you can package your Scented Aroma Bead Ornament in a cellophane bag for long lasting freshness. Cellophane WILL hold the fragrance in, but Zip lock bags will not and the fragrance will diminish.
